advice is everywhere, but is it yours?

2023. December 29. Friday

I've long realised that one of my significant challenges in creative endeavors is my instinctive expectation for perfection. I often overthink, hindering me from starting a project, or I'll abandon a project due to its perceived faults. (This could be the gap between taste and skill.)

Although I have heard so many people advise starting small, emphasising the journey over the destination, and not striving for perfection, truly internalising these concepts is a different matter. I could reiterate these advice snippets to anyone, but it would feel like empty wisdom. Who am I to advise when I can't apply the same to my own life?

The internet is awash with such endlessly regurgitated advice, yet I wonder, just how many people are genuinely implementing them in their own lives? How many have reached their conclusions through lived experience, and how many are simply echoing profound-sounding phrases?
